    An irregular or U-shaped pattern can be produced by a dirty or plugged air cap. This can result in uneven coverage and poorly blended finishes.

    These patterns also tend to decrease cap cleanliness, creating the need for frequent cleaning. 

    After you have cleaned the air cap and tip, check to insure that the irregular or U-shaped pattern issue has been resolved.
