Sipiol UV
Dielectric coating for EV battery packs | Parker LORD
Sipiol® UV dielectric coating
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Sipiol UV was developed specifically for electric vehicle (EV) battery applications. It cures in seconds with UV light, and is electrically insulative. Sipiol helps decrease the risk of a shock-induced delamination of cells from cooling plates. It allows you to replace traditional adhesive tapes and separators allowing for more cells to be placed in the same space and also to reduce overall thermal impedance.

Application:
Cautionary notes
- Keep coating away from light exposure.
- Light exposure for extended periods may cure or advance the coating.
- Minimise the amount of time the lid is off the coating container.
- When the lid cannot be used, place a light blocking cover over the container, such as aluminium foil.
Material preparation
- Mix material during and ahead of use at low speeds, 30 60 rpm
- A handheld mixing apparatus or a paint stick may be used for small containers (1 gallon)
- Overhead drum mixers can be used in production
- Storage containers with agitation should be used in production
- Round or impeller type blades recommended, avoid using dispersion style blades
- Agitation time at 30-60 rpm:
- 10-15 min for 1 gallon container
- 30-60 min for 5 gallon pail
- 2-4 hours for 55 gallon drum
Surface preparation
- Clean application area well to prevent dirt, lint, other debris from being deposited on the part surface or wet coating layer
- Solvent wipe metal substrates with MEK to remove potential contaminants, fingerprints or oils
- Pretreatment of substrate may be necessary depending on customer requirement (plasma, grit blasting, priming or laser etching substrate can improve adhesion)
Applications:
- EV battery - battery cells, cooling plates
