Product description
PPG CoraChar SE 4000 is an epoxy intumescent fire protective coating for electric vehicle (EV) battery packs and electrical energy components. The two-component (2K) material protects the battery substrate against external fires and internal thermal runaway events.

Properties
The fireproofing material has these qualities:
- Base: Epoxy two-component
- Colour: Matte grey
- Dry density: 1.4g/cm3 (87.4 .b/ft3)
- Solids: 100 percent
- VOC (volatile organic compound - supplied):
- Directive 1999/13/EC, SED: max. 0.0 g/kg
- EUR directive: 2004/42/IIA(i)(500) 0 g/l
Epoxy intumescent material notes
- The material should be stored in dry conditions, out of direct sunlight and at temperatures above 0°C (32°F) and below 23°C (73°F).
- Short time storage (transport): 10 days -20°C to 45°C in its original package.
- The dry film thickness depends on the fire protection requirements. Consult PPG for more information.
- The applied mass density is dependent upon many variables such as application method and type of equipment used, environmental and curing temperatures, test methods employed, etc.
- The expected variation is normally within a ±10% range.
- Apply appropriate loss/wastage factor.
