Ecoquip 2
Whether you plan to remove old coatings on deck or corrosion control on steel structures onboard, it’s time to consider an alternative to your power/pressure washer, chemical cleaners or hand/bristle tools. A dust free blast solution for on-board surface preparation and spot repair: Graco EcoQuip 2
The dust free blast solution for onboard surface preparation and spot repair
Graco’s Vapour Abrasive blast Equipment (EcoQuip 2™) reduces dust by up to 92% less than traditional dry blasting. The machine uses very little water, making containment and cleanup of debris simple while still delivering the right profile.
CLEANER, EASIER, MORE PROFITABLE AND DURABLE RESULTS
Proper surface preparation
Blasting with Graco’s EQp ensures you a perfect surface preparation, which ultimately results in a better paint job and less risk of corrosion occurrence. This is because the EQp creates a feathered profile with smooth edges, which generates proper paint adhesion. Surface preparation with pressure washers gives you a straight/deep cut, where water can get stuck. Rust will occur much faster when this happens.
Environmental friendly
Testing conducted by a third-party agency shows that vapor abrasive blasting suppresses up to 92% of dust compared to dry blasting. Because dust is minimized, less containment may be required and media clean-up time can be reduced. Since EcoQuip2 uses less water than slurry or other water-based technologies, no pools of water are left behind, and there is less need to worry about toxic runoff. The end result with EcoQuip2 is a cleaner, more effective contained process.
Limited Health Risks
Graco’s EQp is the safest solution there is on the market for on-board surface preparation. The blast pressure is maximum 10 Bar (145 PSI) which is very little compared to the dangerous high pressures needed for pressure washing or water jetting. When compared to needle guns and bristle blasters there are little vibrations and thus limited operator fatigue.
Small and portable
The dimensions of the Graco EcoQuip2 Eqp make it easy to move the unit on the deck. One person can maneuver the cart and get the unit to the place where the blasting will take place. With the EQp you can blast both horizontal and vertical surfaces. The small size of the blast nozzle allows you to blast in narrow spaces; which is a big advantage when compared with the long – difficult to maneuver - pressure washer guns
Environmental friendly
The EcoQuip ATEX equipment has been approved for use in areas with classification Zone 1 and Zone 2. This means the system is approved to operate in an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture of flammable substances that can form occasionally in normal operation. The EQp can thus be used on-board all vessel types
basic technical requirements
- Blast media (e.g. garnet, crushed glass,…)
- A 1" blast hose is recommended to provide a larger blast pattern
- A water connection or an external water tank
