Blast Hose Spitting Slugs of Media When Blasting
Follow along to see the answers for why your EcoQuip may be spitting media.
Why is it spitting slugs of media when blasting?
The blast hose will spit/sputter slugs of media when there is too much media in the blast stream for the given air flow. Either increase the air flow or decrease the abrasive metering valve setting.
Factors affecting the blast hose
1. The nozzle is too small for the given blast hose - Using a small nozzle on a large ID hose causes the air velocity through the hose to be slow. This causes the media to drop out of the air stream and clump in the hose which causes spitting/sputtering. Refer to manual for Air Flow vs. Nozzle Sizes given a blast pressure to determine which hose and nozzle combination to use for maximum airflow.
2. The media consumption is set too high - The optimum media consumption rate is dependent on airflow. If there is too much media for the given airflow media will spit/sputter from the blast hose.
3. Obstruction in the nozzle, blast hose, or blast circuit - Clear the obstruction.
4. Compressor is too small for the system - Refer to the user manual for airflow requirements.
