The EcoQuip 2, vapour abrasive blasting equipment is the latest innovation in abrasive blasting. Vapour abrasive blasting is similar to dry blasting, except that the blast media is moistened prior to impacting the surface and creates up to 92% less dust. EcoQuip 2 is available in portable or mobile self-contained models offering a solution for all sized jobs.
Wet abrasive blasting (also known as vapour abrasive blasting) removes coatings, contaminants, corrosion and residues from hard surfaces.
The main advantage of vapour abrasive blasting over dry blasting is that it reduces dust, permitting operators to work in an extensive range of environments with minimal setup and cleanup costs. Offering a cleaner, more consistent finished, ready to coat surface, with no embedded particles or clinging dust.
When selecting wet abrasive blasting equipment, it’s important to know how long you want to blast before refilling the pot as well as what kind of production you will need.
Why are both of these so important? Because, unlike dry blasting, wet abrasive blasters are made up of different types of technology, so comparing machines with the same pot, hose and nozzle size doesn’t guarantee you get the same run time or production.
Water and abrasive media are combined in a blasting pot which is pressurized only by water and then precisely metered into the airflow. By encapsulating each blast particle with water, extra weight is added to the media which enlarges the impact of the blast media on the surface. By doing this the EcoQuip 2 creates a feathered profile with smooth edges, which results in proper paint adhesion.
Since EcoQuip 2 uses less water than slurry or other water-based technologies, pools of water aren't left behind so there is less need to worry about toxic runoff.
