“We thought this project would take 25 days. We finished it in 7”
An Italian painting contractor cuts project implementation time by 72% with the T-Max 6912.
A 10-floor residential building. A team of 5 deployed to apply a base and finishing coat on 3500 m² of exterior walls. This Italian contractor did it in just one week. Find out how.
Based in the Italian city of Borgaro Torinese, PRO.ECO.RE.FIN srl specialises in building renovation projects, plastering, and Exterior Insulation and Finishing systems (EIFS). It was founded over 40 years ago and has 20 employees.
1.2 mm granulometry base and finishing coat
The company was recently invited to conduct a large-scale EIFS application. It involved spraying a base and Farbelast acrylic finishing coat with both a granulometry of 1.2 mm on 3500 m2 of exterior walls of a 10-floor residential building in Turin.
For this project, the company chose the Graco T-Max 6912 sprayer. They equipped the spraying unit with a 30 metre hose, to reach the top floors.
Suitable for almost all texture applications
“We were triggered by its air-assisted spraying and versatility to spray a wide range of texture applications and materials”, explains Dellaiera. “It includes heavy aggregates up to 2 mm, with a highly consistent material flow and minimal pack-out.”
The versatility is all in the pump. The T-Max’s pump delivers the power needed to handle most texture applications: 69 bar and 12 l/min. It guarantees that you can spray almost all interior and exterior texture applications. These could be smooth compounds for interior skim coats and decorative finishes or aggregate-based materials for exterior jobs.
“Our guys loved the T-Max's portability and were able to spray 500 m2 per day”
Managing Director Alfonso Dellaiera
PRO.ECO.RE.FIN finished the job in just 7 days instead of the planned 25. “Moreover, it soon became clear that five people were enough to complete the job. So I could transfer the sixth colleague to another job.”
What made this massive time-saving possible?
- Speed: “The team was able to spray 500 m2 per day.”
- Consistent and high quality: the finish is so consistent and high-quality that the normal process of using blades to finish off the surface manually was not necessary.
This excellent finish is ensured by the innovative STX Gun. This gun provides soft-start operation, eliminating material bursts. Consistent material flow and less pack-out are assured through oversized passages for maximum productivity.
- Easy and convenient to move around the jobsite: The T-Max is easy to manoeuvre. “Our guys loved its portability,” adds Dellaiera. “It’s so easy and convenient to move around a job site. This was a major advantage in this project as we were working in a building spread over 10 floors.”
The T-Max 6912 is easy to transport on-site thanks to its modular frame. No-tools connection and disconnection is a fast and easy process. The wheeled pump and hopper modules allow for easy, independent transport or storage. The machine can be plugged in anywhere that has a 120V or a 230V connection. Pump clean-up and maintenance is fast and simple. The pump internals can be accessed in seconds without tools – even with a full-material hopper.
Next up: another 4 buildings
“We already had a Graco Mark V HD airless sprayer,” indicates Dellaiera. “But we had recently been given a demo of the T-Max 6912 air-assisted by the local Graco distributor Colore Amico and immediately recognised the major benefits it could give us for this big job.”
The five operators enjoyed using the T-Max. They found it easy to start up and operate and was much less tiring to use for a whole day of spraying than other sprayers they have used.
“Thanks to the T-Max we were able to work quickly and efficiently, which improved our own productivity and profitability”, concludes Dellaiera.
“We also impressed the end customer with an excellent smooth finish. We are now using the T-Max to renovate another 4 buildings with the same products.”
